ALICIA'S JOURNEY WITH FA

Welcome to our blog where we try to keep family & friends updated on our daughter/granddaughter, Alicia, who is one of the most adorable five year olds ever! She was born with a very rare & aggressive disease, called Fanconi anemia, which causes bone marrow failure, as well as different cancers . She is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant to try to cure her bone marrow issues. If you'd like to gain a little more background, please visit our first entry HERE.

April 2006 Guestbook Entries

I'm so sad to know that I won't be gettin' those Alicia hugs this year at camp :0( You're right though, it is important to take care of her health first. We will miss you in Cincy though, we're going in May. Please give hugs from us to you and Alicia. We'll miss you at camp.

Happy to read that Alicia is doing so well. Sorry to read about all the boo-boos, though :( We love bandaids in our house, too... they're great for fixing almost everything on the little ones :) Hope y'all had a happy Easter. Best wishes in Cincy.

Hello everyone,

Sorry again for taking so long to update on Alicia. All is well here. Alicia is doing fine, her platelets are still dropping, they around the 50,000 mark. Her red count is slightly low also but the rest are fine.

Alicia is gettin to be such a big little girl. She is talking and signing alot better, I can almost understand all that she is saying. She loves to talk on the phone. She has such an awesome personality.

We have to watch her so close. She is getting to the age where she loves to run and play alot. This means alot of scrapes and boo-boo's. Last week she tried to run out of Erika's front door when she seen me pull up and fell right on her face going down the porch stairs, she scraped up her whole nose. She still looks like Rudolph the red nose reindeer. I have went through almost a shole box of band-aids in a month, she wants a band-aid on every little tiny scratch she gets. ( they always make her feel better.)

The most difficult journey now is potty training. I am having the most difficult time trying to get her to tell me when she has to use it. As long as I remind her she does fine. If anyone has any suggestions please e-mail me, all the advice is very much appriciated.

We are making our plans now to take Alicia to Cinncinnatti in August. I really hate having to miss camp this year. I had such a good time last year and so did Alicia, I can only take a week off work and I feel it is important to take alicia to Cinncinnatti.

I hope all is going well with everyone. Thank you so much for checking in on Alicia.
