ALICIA'S JOURNEY WITH FA

Welcome to our blog where we try to keep family & friends updated on our daughter/granddaughter, Alicia, who is one of the most adorable five year olds ever! She was born with a very rare & aggressive disease, called Fanconi anemia, which causes bone marrow failure, as well as different cancers . She is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant to try to cure her bone marrow issues. If you'd like to gain a little more background, please visit our first entry HERE.

July 2007 Guestbook Entries

HI,
I was just looking through the family pages and found Alicia's page. Looking at her pictures, I remember the week you and your sister spent at Camp Sunshine and how endearing and sweet Alicia was. She never went by without saying and signing "I LOVE YOU!!!". (I was the "older woman" who was a counselor for the FA Teens when you attended camp.)

I hope that you are all doing well and that someday we can meet again at Camp Sunshine.

~*~ HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ~*~

“Love...It bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.”
(1 Corinthians 13:7)

A Mother's love is something
that no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

~Helen Steiner Rice~

Have a blessed Mother's Day!

Sorry I just ot to a computer to update everyone on Alicia's results.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!! They didn't show any increase in her Blast Counts. And still no show of the Monosomy Seven showing back up. I am so happy. Robin from Cincinnatti said they would be calling me next week and letting me know if Dr. Williams wants the Biopsy repeated in 3 months or if we get to wait 6 months this time. Thank you so much for every ones support I couldn't get through this with out you.

Hello Everyone,

Sorry i haven't updated on Alicia in a while, we have been so busy with the new baby. He is getting soooo big, I will put more recent pictures soon.

Alicia is doing fine at the moment, she has another biopsy coming up on the 16th of this month, hopefully everything will come out fine like the last one and move her transplant to a much later time. I will let every one know the results just as soon as I get them.

Alicia...
How's it going, being the big sister?? You know, baby Ashon is going to look up to you for assistance as he grows.

My son was extrememly jealous when my daughter was born. They are 4-1/2 years apart. So what we did, was buy him a baby doll. Just a plain, simple one. So when we bathed our baby, he did the same. We fed her, he fed his, etc...and when we took her for walks in her stroller..he purchased him one of those cheap lil $5 toy strollers, and he could walk his baby with us. It made a world of difference and the jealousy didn't last long at all. Also, before bedtime every night, our son got some extra story and attention time, "big brother time" we called it!
It's a huge adjustment, but one that Alicia will overcome in no time!!

Wishing you all a great week!

Love and hugs,

Ha! I suppose it would be weird having a baby boy in the house...since you are used to girls....hehe...and I am the opposite...I am used to the boys and if I have a baby girl next...I suppose I will be saying that having a girl is weird! Ha! I just wanted to stop by and thank you for all the support that you have been giving me and i have been thinking about you and your family tonight.
I love you,
Charisse
