ALICIA'S JOURNEY WITH FA

Welcome to our blog where we try to keep family & friends updated on our daughter/granddaughter, Alicia, who is one of the most adorable five year olds ever! She was born with a very rare & aggressive disease, called Fanconi anemia, which causes bone marrow failure, as well as different cancers . She is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant to try to cure her bone marrow issues. If you'd like to gain a little more background, please visit our first entry HERE.

DAY +51

ANOTHER DAY WITH FEVERS. THIS IS GETTING SOOOOO FRUSTRATING AND I THINK THE DOCS CAN SEE THAT I AM GETTING IRRITATED. I KNOW THEY ARE DOING THE VERY BEST JOB THEY CAN BUT I JUST WANT SOME ANSWERS!!!

ALICIA WOKE UP WITH A 103 TEMP AND HER HEART RATE WAS IN THE 180'S. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY ALL MORNING. SHE IS COMPLAINING ALOT OF HER STOMACH HURTING STILL ALSO. I HAVE BEEN KEEPING ICE RAGS ON HER FORHEAD AND BACK OF HER NECK AND THAT SEEMS TO RELAX HER SO SHE CAN SLEEP. THEY ARE ALSO PUTTING HER BACK ON A CONSTANT MORPHINE PUMP AGAIN. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL MAKE HER COMFORTABLE UNTIL THEY CAN FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG.

THEY ARE RUNNING ALOT MORE TESTS TODAY. THEY PULLED CULTURES DURING HER HIGHEST FEVER WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN DOING FOR WEEKS BUT SO FAR THOSE ARE ALL NEGATIVE LIKE THEY ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. TODAY THEY ARE ALSO DOING ANOTHER CT ON HER HEAD TO MAKE SURE THE PRESS IS GOING AWAY. THEY HAVE ALSO TAKEN CULTURES FROM BOTH OF HER CENTRAL LINES TO CHECK FOR INFECTION IN THEM AS WELL AS A VIRAL/FUNGAL BLOOD TEST. WHAT EVER ALL THAT IS I HAVE NO CLUE. I JUST HOPE THEY FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON AND FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ERIKAN AND ANSHON WILL BE HERE TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY. I AM SOOOO GLAD I WILL BE GETTING MORE REST AND DENISE AND KELLI MY SISTERS WILL BE HERE THE WEEKEND AFTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE KEEP PRAYING FOR MY BABY. I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TIRED!!!

TRANSPORT IS HERE TO TAKE HER TO CT SO I WILL UPDATE LATER.

Hi Michelle,
I bet you are really tired. I wish I could do more. All I can do is just continue to pray for Alicia. I bet you are frustrated and if I was Alicia, I would be feeling upset that I was always sick. However, children seem so patient. It is a credit to them but it is not nice at all that she is going through all this.

So sorry about the fevers!
Christ died that we might have hope and salvation through Him. Praying so right now!
Isaiah 53:3-5 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

These are wonderful words of comfort and hope. Still praying in Seattle!
2 Samuel 22:29-33 For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness. For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God? God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.
