ALICIA'S JOURNEY WITH FA

Welcome to our blog where we try to keep family & friends updated on our daughter/granddaughter, Alicia, who is one of the most adorable five year olds ever! She was born with a very rare & aggressive disease, called Fanconi anemia, which causes bone marrow failure, as well as different cancers . She is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant to try to cure her bone marrow issues. If you'd like to gain a little more background, please visit our first entry HERE.

DAY +55

OK OK OK SO ONCE AGAIN SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING YESTERDAY. ALICIA HAD A VERY GOOD DAY. IT WAS JUST ME THAT WAS HAVING ISSUE'S. I HAD A HORRIBLE HEAD ACHE. I AM SURE IT HAD ALOT TO DO WITH STRESS BUT I COULD NOT GET RID OF IT TO SAVE MY LIFE. IT WAS POUNDING ALL DAY.

I DO FEEL ALOT BETTER TODAY THOUGH. AT 8:30 THIS MORNING I HAD A MASSAGE AND SHE WORKED OUT A LOT OF TENSION IN MY NECK AND SHOULDERS AND IT MADE MY HEAD FEEL ALOT BETTER. I HAD IT DONE IN A CLOSET. I POOP YOU NOT... IT WAS IN AN ACTUAL CLOSET WITH A MASSAGE CHAIR AND SOME VERY SOOTHING MUSIC. MY FOOT FELL ASLEEP ALSO.

ALICIA HAS BEEN DOING VERY WELL FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS. THEY HAVE HER ON TUBE FEEDS AND THEY ARE STARTING TO SWITCH ALOT OF MEDS FROM IV TO ORAL. THE DOCTORS ARE SAYING THAT MAYBE IF SHE KEEPS MOVING IN THIS DIRECTION WE MIGHT BE OUT OF THE HOSPITAL AND TO THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE BY LABOR DAY. THEY SAID MAYBE AROUND DAY +70. THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHE IS STILL HAVING TUMMY PAINS BUT THEY ARE BEING MANAGEDED ALOT BETTER NOW. HER POOP HAS SLOWED DOWN ALOT ALTHOGH WHEN SHE DOES HAVE THEM THEY ARE ALOT STILL BUT NOT AS FREQUENT WHICH IS WHAT IS EXPECTED.

I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A BLAST AT CAMP.

Hi Michelle,
I am glad Alicia seems to be a bit better. Sorry to hear about your headache though. I am glad you were able to have a massage :)
Still praying for you all.

Hi Michelle,

I just caught up on a week of blog posts. Alicia is making progress!! Hooray!! It may have seemed like a very long week for you but after reading it all at once, she is doing much better. Camp Sunshine was fun but it was not the same without you and Alicia. We'll see you both there next year. Can't wait to hear her sing her song.
Hugs and prayers,

Glad things are improving somewhat with Alicia and the GVHD. I hope it continues to get better...poor girl!

That's really no fun about the headache, but no wonder you had one! I bet you had a lot of tension in your back and neck. Glad you got a massage...it made me laugh that your foot fell asleep!

Hang in there and hope you both feel better;-)

Love,
the Clifton's
