ALICIA'S JOURNEY WITH FA

Welcome to our blog where we try to keep family & friends updated on our daughter/granddaughter, Alicia, who is one of the most adorable five year olds ever! She was born with a very rare & aggressive disease, called Fanconi anemia, which causes bone marrow failure, as well as different cancers . She is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant to try to cure her bone marrow issues. If you'd like to gain a little more background, please visit our first entry HERE.

Michelle update

Hello everyone!
This is Krisstina updating for Michelle, per her request.
Today we went to her follow-up to have the remaining staples removed and there was one of the staples that should have stayed in a little longer, but it was healed enough to just place a butterfly stitch on it. She has about six or seven of them and should get them off, if they do not fall off first, and have a wound check by Monday.
They gave us a copy of the pathology report and it shows she has Stage 1 endometrial adenocarcinoma. They found it in 3 places. All were showing stage 1, which is very promising!!!!!!
We will have a consult with her Gyno-oncologist. It should be within the next week. Since it is on the lining of the uterus, she will be getting a full hysterectomy. The good news is that most of the time with stage 1 they get it all with the hysterectomy. They will be taking biopsies of many places to make sure the cancer had not spread to her stomach and other organs. We will know more next week.
Michelle is doing well. She is felling a little better knowing a little more information, not a lot but a little.
Please pray for her all goes well for both of them and some peace for Michelle!

Alicia is also doing well!

Dearest Michelle,
what wonderful news that it is stage 1 and not worse. Although, I understand how terrifying this all is. I know that while they biopsy other areas to see if it has spread, you would feel very anxious. It is a big thing to have a hysterectomy too but you are one amazing person.

I have my CT of my abdo/groin on Friday to see if mine spread and to be honest, I feel terrified. So I can understand you feeling terrified. You have been through so much with Alicia and the transplant and now this. We won't stop praying for you.

Krisstina, thank you for the update :-)
Love Charisse

So happy it's stage 1! Hope you have the surgery soon to get all that bad stuff outta you!
Thankful that I can be here praying for you.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand. The Lutheran Hymnal #370, verse 2
