ALICIA'S JOURNEY WITH FA

Welcome to our blog where we try to keep family & friends updated on our daughter/granddaughter, Alicia, who is one of the most adorable five year olds ever! She was born with a very rare & aggressive disease, called Fanconi anemia, which causes bone marrow failure, as well as different cancers . She is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant to try to cure her bone marrow issues. If you'd like to gain a little more background, please visit our first entry HERE.

DAY +31

HI THIS IS DENISE, MICHELLE ASKED ME TO UPDATE EVERYONE. THE DRS SAID ALICIA IS ABOUT THE SAME. THEY WANT TO KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON HER BLOOD SUGAR LVELS TODAY BECAUSE OF HIGH DOSE OF STERIODS TO FIGHT THE GVH AND SOMETHING CALLED TPN I THINK. BARE WITH ME CUZ I HAVE HEARD JUST ABOUT EVERY COMBINATION OF LETTERS PUT TOGETHER FOR WHATS GOING ON THAT I AM SOMETIMES CONFUSED AND WILL PROBABLY HAVE YALL CONFUSED TOO. I STAYED ALL NIGHT WITH ALICIA LAST NIGHT AND IT WENT PRETTY GOOD. SHE HAD A SMALL FEVER BUT ALL IN ALL HAD AN EVENTFUL NIGHT. ONE THING I CANT UNDERSTAND THOUGH IS WHY CANT ALL THE NURSES GET TOGETHER AND COME TO MESS WITH HER AT ONE TIME INSTEAD OF ONCE EVERY HOUR. DONT WORRY MICHELLE I WONT ASK THEM:] MICHELLE TOOK CASSIE TO THE ZOO TODAY. HER AND HER FRIEND ARE RENTING SCOTTERS AND PUTTING THE KIDS OO THEIR LAPS. HA HA HA SEE MICHELLE I TOLD YOU THAT YOU REALLY SHOULDNT HAVE ME WRITE THIS. ANTWAYS I HOPE MICHELLE GOT SOME GOOD SLEEP WITH OUT ALL THE BELLS GOING OFF AND NURSES COMING IN AND BEING LOUD. ALICIA IS ASLEEP RIGHT NOW. SHE WONT HARDLY EAT. SHE DONT FEEL GOOD TODAY. I WISH I COULD STAY LONGER BUT MY OTHER KIDS AND HUSBAND ARE PROBABLY HUNGRY. KEEP MY BUDDY IN YOUR PRAYERS. NE-NE

These verses offer such comfort and hope! Praying right now!
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Michelle,
You are blessed with a wonderful sister. I was so thankful to read you had a night to sleep and Denise took such wonderful care of Alicia, even updated the blog. Also, Alicia's diagnosis is a mixed blessing. Now that they know what it is, they can treat it and Alicia can continue to heal. Many FA kids get GVHD. Keep your faith. Alicia is strong willed and will be at Camp next year. She looks beautiful in her new dress. Go Alicia!
Hugs and prayers,
